OKI B820 and ES8140 Mono A3 Printers on the Gold Coast

For a builder, an engineer or a trades office printing plans and schedules in A3, and never in colour, the B820 and ES8140 are worth a look. They are black and white A3 printers: the B820 at 35 pages a minute, the ES8140 at 40, both designed around 20,000 pages a month. OKI has stopped selling them new, though it supports both until 2028, and we supply and service them secondhand.

  • Up to 35 or 40 pages a minute on A4
  • Black and white A3 only
  • OKI support to 2028
  • Replacement warranty with our service agreement

The two printers

Both printers share one A3 black and white body, to the point that OKI illustrates them with identical drawings. The B820n runs at 35 pages a minute. The ES8140dn, the Executive Series version, is quicker at 40 and prints both sides of the sheet. OKI's guidance is to stay within 20,000 pages a month; the most it rates them for is 100,000.

The ES8140 came off sale first, in March 2021, and is supported to 31 March 2028. The B820 followed in October 2021, with support running to 31 October 2028.

The right size of business

It is a printer for heavy black and white A3 work, the kind a building firm or a facilities team at Yatala or Molendinar turns out every week. If you need to copy and scan as well, an A3 copier handles all three.

Secondhand grades and how to pay

Ask us for the B820 or ES8140 secondhand, and each machine comes checked, with its page count in writing before anything is signed. Buy it outright, or rent, lease or finance it over a term the machine's age decides, as long as 60 months on a younger one. Delivery, network setup and a run through for your team are part of the price anywhere from Ormeau to Tweed Heads, with scanning set up as well on a machine that scans.

With our service agreement in place, the replacement warranty lasts the whole term: if the machine fails, we replace it. The lowest rental, from $15 a week plus GST, applies to selected machines; any finance needs approval, and when a rental ends you upgrade or hand the machine back.

Four things to ask about a secondhand OKI

  • The page count, in writing. With an OKI, pages printed are a far better guide to condition than the year it was made.
  • Drum and fuser life. These parts wear with every page. Find out how far through their life each one is.
  • Options on board. Ask whether it has a stand, a duplex unit or more paper trays, since each one changes the work it suits.
  • Support, now and later. We look after every machine we supply. Before you buy, we also tell you how long OKI will keep supporting that model.

Replacement warranty

A machine that fails is replaced. Through to the final month.

Any machine we look after on a service agreement comes under our replacement warranty, whatever its age and however you paid for it. Rented, leased, financed or bought outright, new or secondhand: if it fails, we replace it. Cover runs for the whole term of the agreement, through to its final month.

The maker's warranty on a new copier normally lasts 12 months and takes in the hardware; consumables are not part of it. Past that first year, your protection comes from the service agreement. Every detail of the replacement warranty is set down in your agreement.

Asked often

OKI B820: questions and answers

How long will OKI support the B820?

For the B820, OKI Australia publishes support to 31 October 2028; for the ES8140, to 31 March 2028.

Should I pick the B820 or the ES8140?

If double sided printing or extra speed matters, the ES8140: it adds both, at 40 pages a minute against the B820's 35, in the same body.

Could my business rent a secondhand OKI B820?

Yes, subject to approval: over three to five years for a new machine, or over a term set by its age for a secondhand one. Selected machines can be rented from $15 a week plus GST. Let us know which one you have in mind and we will send the figures in writing.
