What you are getting

Within Kyocera's TASKalfa 6002i series, the TASKalfa 5002i is the option at 50 pages a minute. Kyocera built the same family at other speeds too: TASKalfa 4002i (40) and TASKalfa 6002i (60), in pages a minute. From the maker's own figures, it needs the optional single pass document feeder to scan at its top speed of 100 images a minute, has room for 1,150 sheets (or 7,150 with extra paper options) and copes with card stock to 300 gsm. The model that came after it is the TASKalfa 5003i.

Where it fits best

As a rough guide, it is sized for thirty or more people, or a print room that runs much of the day. Expecting more staff? The same family's TASKalfa 6002i lifts the speed to 60 pages a minute. If your team prints less, compare it with the TASKalfa 4002i, which manages 40 pages a minute.

Picking a grade, then a way to pay

A secondhand TASKalfa 5002i comes in one of three grades. Renewed is the top grade, with more parts replaced so it looks and runs close to new, and it costs more than refurbished. Refurbished, the most popular, is cleaned, serviced and tested, with its worn parts replaced. Used is checked and working with less work done, for the lowest outlay. Rental, a lease or finance can run for as long as 60 months if the machine's age allows, or you can buy outright. Delivery, setup on your network, scanning setup and a run through for your team are in the price.

A secondhand machine on our service agreement has the same replacement warranty as a new one: if it fails, we replace it, for the full term. Approved rentals on the selected machines that qualify are priced from $15 a week plus GST.

Before you commit to a secondhand one

The page count. Ask for it in writing; we give it before you sign. Pages printed tell you more about wear than the year a machine was made.
The options on it. Find out what is attached, such as a stapling finisher, more paper drawers or a high capacity feeder. Each one changes the jobs it suits and the figure you pay.
Who looks after it. A machine nobody can repair is no bargain, however little it costs. We only sell what we can service ourselves, everywhere we deliver.
The running cost. Have the black and white and colour page rates put in writing, along with what each rate includes.

Replacement warranty

A machine that fails is replaced. Through to the final month.

Any machine we look after on a service agreement comes under our replacement warranty, whatever its age and however you paid for it. Rented, leased, financed or bought outright, new or secondhand: if it fails, we replace it. Cover runs for the whole term of the agreement, through to its final month.

The maker's warranty on a new copier normally lasts 12 months and takes in the hardware; consumables are not part of it. Past that first year, your protection comes from the service agreement. Every detail of the replacement warranty is set down in your agreement.

Asked often

Kyocera TASKalfa 5002i: questions and answers

Is a new TASKalfa 5002i still available?

No. Its replacement from Kyocera is the TASKalfa 5003i, so secondhand is now the way to get one, and every one we sell, we can service.

How many pages will a secondhand TASKalfa 5002i have done?

Every machine is different, so you get its exact page count in writing before you buy. That number says far more about wear than the year it was built.

Is the TASKalfa 6002i a better choice than the TASKalfa 5002i?

Both come from the same family. The TASKalfa 5002i prints 50 pages a minute, while the TASKalfa 6002i prints 60, so the real question is how many people will share the machine. Give us that number and we will point you to one.

Can my business rent the TASKalfa 5002i?

Yes, subject to approval. Rental is one regular payment under a business agreement running for a term the machine's age allows, up to 60 months, and at the end you upgrade to a newer machine or hand it back. Selected machines can be rented from $15 a week plus GST.
