The model itself

Ricoh placed the IM 3500 in its IM 2500 to 6000 range, as the model that prints 35 pages a minute. Its stablemates, each with its pages a minute: IM 2500 (25), IM 3000 (30), IM 4000 (40), IM 5000 (50) and IM 6000 (60). From the maker's own figures, it reads both sides of a double sided original in one pass, at as many as 120 images a minute, has room for 1,200 sheets (or 4,700 with extra paper options) and copes with card stock to 300 gsm.

Is it the right fit for your team?

Its natural home: an office of somewhere between five and fifteen staff. Expecting more staff? The same family's IM 4000 lifts the speed to 40 pages a minute. The IM 3000, at 30 pages a minute, is the gentler option in the family.

How we supply it secondhand

Choose a renewed IM 3500 if you want one that runs close to new, refurbished for the balance most customers pick, or used to keep the outlay down. Every unit is checked first, with the page count in writing. Pay outright, or rent, lease or finance it over a term that can reach 60 months on a younger machine. Delivery, setup on your network, scanning setup and a run through for your team come with it, wherever you are on the Coast.

A secondhand machine on our service agreement has the same replacement warranty as a new one: if it fails, we replace it, for the full term. Approved rentals on the selected machines that qualify are priced from $15 a week plus GST.

Questions worth asking first

  • The page count. Ask for it in writing; we give it before you sign. Pages printed tell you more about wear than the year a machine was made.
  • The options on it. Find out what is attached, such as a stapling finisher, more paper drawers or a high capacity feeder. Each one changes the jobs it suits and the figure you pay.
  • Who looks after it. A machine nobody can repair is no bargain, however little it costs. We only sell what we can service ourselves, everywhere we deliver.
  • The running cost. Have the black and white and colour page rates put in writing, along with what each rate includes.

Replacement warranty

A machine that fails is replaced. Through to the final month.

Any machine we look after on a service agreement comes under our replacement warranty, whatever its age and however you paid for it. Rented, leased, financed or bought outright, new or secondhand: if it fails, we replace it. Cover runs for the whole term of the agreement, through to its final month.

The maker's warranty on a new copier normally lasts 12 months and takes in the hardware; consumables are not part of it. Past that first year, your protection comes from the service agreement. Every detail of the replacement warranty is set down in your agreement.

Asked often

What buyers want to know: Ricoh IM 3500

Is there a way to judge the wear on a secondhand IM 3500?

Yes: the page count. We put it in writing before you commit, and it is a truer guide to wear than age alone.

How do I decide between the IM 3500 and the IM 4000?

Both come from the same family. The IM 3500 prints 35 pages a minute, while the IM 4000 prints 40, so the real question is how many people will share the machine. Give us that number and we will point you to one.

Is rental an option on the IM 3500?

Usually, yes, subject to approval, for a term the machine's age allows, up to 60 months. Weekly rental on selected machines is from $15 a week plus GST; the machine is serviced throughout. Rental is not hire, so there is no short booking to arrange. Ask about this model and we will put the figures in writing for you.
