The model itself

Of the speeds in Ricoh's IM 2500 to 6000 range, the IM 4000 is the one that does 40 pages a minute. Sister models and their A4 speeds: IM 2500 (25), IM 3000 (30), IM 3500 (35), IM 5000 (50) and IM 6000 (60). Useful to know: it needs the optional single pass document feeder to scan at its top speed of 120 images a minute, has room for 1,200 sheets (or 4,700 with extra paper options) and copes with card stock to 300 gsm.

An A3 mono photocopier for Gold Coast workplaces, at 40 pages a minute, in three secondhand grades.

Where it fits best

It makes most sense for a workplace where fifteen to thirty people share one machine. If the business is growing, the IM 5000 gives you 50 pages a minute in the same family. If your team prints less, compare it with the IM 3500, which manages 35 pages a minute.

Picking a grade, then a way to pay

Secondhand, the IM 4000 comes in whichever grade suits your budget: renewed, refurbished or used. We check each one and give you its page count in writing. Rental or finance terms stretch to 60 months where the machine's age allows, and buying outright is always an option. The price covers delivery, setup on your network, scanning setup and a run through for your team.

Bought outright without a service agreement, its warranty depends on the machine, and we tell you in writing what it is before the sale. With a service agreement, it is replaced if it fails, for the whole term. The lowest weekly rental, from $15 a week plus GST, is for selected machines, subject to approval.

Before you commit to a secondhand one

  • The page count. Ask for it in writing; we give it before you sign. Pages printed tell you more about wear than the year a machine was made.
  • The options on it. Find out what is attached, such as a stapling finisher, more paper drawers or a high capacity feeder. Each one changes the jobs it suits and the figure you pay.
  • Who looks after it. A machine nobody can repair is no bargain, however little it costs. We only sell what we can service ourselves, everywhere we deliver.
  • The running cost. Have the black and white and colour page rates put in writing, along with what each rate includes.

Replacement warranty

A machine that fails is replaced. Through to the final month.

Any machine we look after on a service agreement comes under our replacement warranty, whatever its age and however you paid for it. Rented, leased, financed or bought outright, new or secondhand: if it fails, we replace it. Cover runs for the whole term of the agreement, through to its final month.

The maker's warranty on a new copier normally lasts 12 months and takes in the hardware; consumables are not part of it. Past that first year, your protection comes from the service agreement. Every detail of the replacement warranty is set down in your agreement.

Asked often

Ricoh IM 4000: questions and answers

Is there a way to judge the wear on a secondhand IM 4000?

Yes: the page count. We put it in writing before you commit, and it is a truer guide to wear than age alone.

How do I decide between the IM 4000 and the IM 5000?

Both come from the same family. The IM 4000 prints 40 pages a minute, while the IM 5000 prints 50, so the real question is how many people will share the machine. Give us that number and we will point you to one.

Is rental an option on the IM 4000?

Usually, yes, subject to approval, for a term the machine's age allows, up to 60 months. Weekly rental on selected machines is from $15 a week plus GST; the machine is serviced throughout. Rental is not hire, so there is no short booking to arrange. Ask about this model and we will put the figures in writing for you.
