What you are getting

Sharp placed the MX M4050 in its MX M3050 to MX M6050 series, as the model that prints 40 pages a minute. Sharp built the same family at other speeds too: MX M3050 (30), MX M3550 (35), MX M5050 (50) and MX M6050 (60), in pages a minute. From the maker's own figures, it has a scanning speed of 80 images a minute, has room for 650 sheets (or 6,300 with extra paper options) and copes with card stock to 300 gsm.

An A3 mono photocopier for Gold Coast workplaces, at 40 pages a minute, in three secondhand grades.

Where it fits best

As a rough guide, it is sized for a workplace where fifteen to thirty people share one machine. Expecting more staff? The same family's MX M5050 lifts the speed to 50 pages a minute. For a quieter office, the MX M3550 runs at 35.

Secondhand grades and how to pay

Choose a renewed MX M4050 if you want one that runs close to new, refurbished for the balance most customers pick, or used to keep the outlay down. Every unit is checked first, with the page count in writing. Pay outright, or rent, lease or finance it over a term that can reach 60 months on a younger machine. Delivery, setup on your network, scanning setup and a run through for your team come with it, wherever you are on the Coast.

We only sell machines we can service, so every secondhand MX M4050 we supply can go straight onto a service agreement, with toner, parts and repairs at a set cost per page and a replacement if it fails. Rental on selected machines is from $15 a week plus GST, approval permitting.

Questions worth asking first

  • The page count. Ask for it in writing; we give it before you sign. Pages printed tell you more about wear than the year a machine was made.
  • The options on it. Find out what is attached, such as a stapling finisher, more paper drawers or a high capacity feeder. Each one changes the jobs it suits and the figure you pay.
  • Who looks after it. A machine nobody can repair is no bargain, however little it costs. We only sell what we can service ourselves, everywhere we deliver.
  • The running cost. Have the black and white and colour page rates put in writing, along with what each rate includes.

Replacement warranty

A machine that fails is replaced. Through to the final month.

Any machine we look after on a service agreement comes under our replacement warranty, whatever its age and however you paid for it. Rented, leased, financed or bought outright, new or secondhand: if it fails, we replace it. Cover runs for the whole term of the agreement, through to its final month.

The maker's warranty on a new copier normally lasts 12 months and takes in the hardware; consumables are not part of it. Past that first year, your protection comes from the service agreement. Every detail of the replacement warranty is set down in your agreement.

Asked often

Sharp MX M4050: questions and answers

How many pages will a secondhand MX M4050 have done?

Every machine is different, so you get its exact page count in writing before you buy. That number says far more about wear than the year it was built.

Is the MX M5050 a better choice than the MX M4050?

It comes down to your workload. At 40 pages a minute against 50, the two suit different team sizes; send a headcount and a rough monthly page count and we will recommend the better fit.

Can my business rent the MX M4050?

Yes, subject to approval. Rental is one regular payment under a business agreement running for a term the machine's age allows, up to 60 months, and at the end you upgrade to a newer machine or hand it back. Selected machines can be rented from $15 a week plus GST.
